Gujarat opposes relocation of Gir lions in apex court

The Gujarat government on Friday submitted an affidavit in the Supreme Court stating its objections to any relocation of Asiatic lions in Gir forests Kuno-Palpur in Madhya Pradesh, officials said. Last week, a meeting of the State Wildlife Board, chaired by CM Narendra Modi, had rejected proposals to relocate lions to the neighbouring state without the concurrence of locals.
