First class judicial magistrate of Vijaynagar,on Friday, granted six-day remand to four persons held with leopard skins on Wednesday night at Vijaynagar in Sabarkantha district.

Four members of a gang trading in leopard skins were arrested in a joint operation by state Intelligence Bureau and forest department.

One of the accused Prakash Patel works as a driver in the forest department on a daily wages basis. Another accused Deepak Parmar is from Ahmedabad, while Shyam Mohan Patel is a land broker in Amreli. The fourth accused, Lakshman Patel is from Vijaynagar, Sabarkantha.

"The hunt has been intensified for prime accused Babu Savaji Modia, who is on the run," said assistant conservator forest (ACF) RM Desai.Meanwhile Harshwardhansinhji Rathore, ex-ruler of Vijaynagar, has denied that the skins was the ones that had been stolen from the royal place, said Desai.

Officials said that more members of the gang could be apprehended once interrogation of the four is over.

"We do not rule out involvement of an inter-state or international gang in this racket," Desai said.
