Three persons were attacked by a lioness on the outskirts of Ambaliyana village in Khambhataluka of Amreli district on Monday while they were collecting sand from near a water body for a marriage ritual.

The injured have been identified as Haresh Makwana (35) of Saolva village, Bharat Parmar (25) of Rupavati village and Shailesh Makwana (21) of Nana Barman village of Khambha taluka. They had come to visit Babubhai Makwana of Ambaliyana village in whose family a marriage was being solemnized.

While they were collecting sand, the lioness attacked them from behind. They were rushed to a government hospital in Khambha for treatment. Makwana got 25 stitches, while Bharat and Shailesh sustained minor injuries. Forest officials said all the three people are out of danger.
