Teenager attacked by lioness

A 17-year-old girl was attacked by a lioness in Pachapachiya village in Khambha taluka of Amreli district on Monday.
The victim has been identified Lata Ahir, a resident of the village. She was rushed to a government hospital in Khambha.
Sources said Lata had gone on the outskirts of the village along with her friends when the lioness emerged and attacked her. The alarm raised by her friends brought villagers to the spot.
Sources said she got seven stitches and has been referred to a hospital in Amreli town for further treatment.
Earlier this year two persons Bhikhabhai Parmar of Nageshree village in Jafrabad taluka and Bhura Parmar of Dholadri village in Rajula taluka of the district had been killed by lions.
The areas where the attacks have taken place are a part of the expanded lion territory called Bruhad Gir.
The man animal conflicts have increased since the population of wild animals has increased and they have been making forays into human settlements of Bruhad Gir area.
