A wounded lion that forest officials had been searching for for the last 20 days was finally found near Liliya in Amreli district late on Saturday.

Villagers had informed forest officials about the wounded lion on February 18 and the department had started a search.

However, the lion was hiding in the shrubs, making it difficult for foresters to locate it.

"On Saturday, we successfully traced the wounded lion and our veterinary team gave the required treatment on the spot. It is likely that he may have received injuries during infighting," said A K Turk, range forest officer, Liliya forest range.
